Sheena Chohan Meets Legendary B. Jeyamohan, Writer of Her Tamil Debut Film - Arjunanin Allirani

Sheena met Jeyamohan in conversation about the film’s narrative depth and character journey, marking a meaningful creative exchange ahead of her Tamil cinema debut in Arjunanin Allirani.

Known for her pan-Indian work, actress Sheena Chohan now enters Tamil cinema with Arjunanin Allirani, a folk-rooted drama that marks a defining step in her artistic evolution. The actress, who was recently in Pune for the Pune International Film Festival, shared that the project signals an exciting new chapter in her career. During the festival, Sheena met celebrated author and screenwriter B. Jeyamohan — a meeting that would lead to a significant artistic collaboration.

Written by acclaimed Tamil author B. Jeyamohan and directed by Vino Vikraman Pillai (Kafir), the film will also feature music by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, marking a notable convergence of literary, musical, and cinematic voices. Director Vino is currently in deep pre-production, finalizing the creative and technical aspects of the project. Industry sources describe the film as “quietly shaping into something uniquely epic and culturally resonant.”

Speaking about collaborating with Jeyamohan, Sheena shared, “His approach to epic and folk narratives is powerful and deeply authentic. It’s inspiring to work with someone who treats tradition with such contemporary clarity.”

For director Vino, casting Chohan was instinctual. “She showed immediate commitment to the character and the physicality it demands,” he said.

Arjunanin Allirani follows two impoverished folk artists — a Dalit singer and a folk dancer — whose relationship forms the emotional center of the narrative. Chohan plays Rani, a character whose journey spans four distinct life phases, from youth to middle age. The role also requires intensive martial arts training, a traditional Tamil stick-fighting discipline.

Produced by Irfan Khan for EBG Films, Arjunanin Allirani marks Sheena Chohan’s debut in Tamil cinema after acclaimed work across Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, Hindi, and international productions, and is poised to offer a fresh cinematic celebration of folklore, heritage, and epic storytelling.
